Packlink, the Spanish leading online parcel delivery network which allows users to compare and purchase parcel and courier services at discounted rates, has received an investment of €1.5m from Active Venture Partners, through its fund Amerigo Innvierte Spain Ventures.
The investment will allow the company to consolidate its position as a leader in the Spanish market and expand into other European markets.
“Our goal is to become the first European network of online courier services, replicating the strengths of our model, based on a powerful technological platform and agreements with major operators in the sector,” says Ben Askew-Renaut, CEO and founding partner of Packlink.
The company started operating in 2012 after two years of development of the platform. Packlink was created by Ben Askew-Renaut and Javier Bravo, two entrepreneurs from the logistics and technology sectors, who found a gap in the market. Packlink services allow SMEs, freelancers and individuals have access to door-to-door delivery service on terms and rates similar to those of large companies.
“We want to offer a simple and transparent comparison service in the field of messaging, the same style as the travel or insurance comparison websites but with a 100% focus on customer service” says Javier Bravo.
The Company offers advantages to its customers and its partner carriers which are SEUR, ChronoExprés, ENVIALIA, UPS, FedEx, GLS and TNT among others.
Thanks to its efficient technology and the support of the leading national and international transport companies, Packlink customers get discounts of up to 70% on their shipments. Other advantages are time saving, easy and fast online booking directly on Packlink website and excellent customer service, which is highly valued by its users.
PackLink allows the collaborating transportation companies access a new distribution channel and acquire customers that are unusual for this type of companies. “We integrate our system in to the platform of the carrier including the price search, recruitment and the shipment tracking,” says Askew-Renaut.
Packlink has become the leader in online courier services reaching 100,000 shipments in just one year of activity, thanks to a unique technology and effective business management.
This is one of the keys that has led to the entry of Active Venture Partners in the project. “In a sector as crucial as logistics, it is difficult to find value-added services such as those offered by Packlink” says Ricard Söderberg, founding partner of Active Venture Partners.
For Ricard Söderberg it is clear that “the e-commerce sector is growing massively and this, together with conventional shipments, will contribute to Packlink’s growth. For us it is very important that the company we invest in has a strong professional, innovative and entrepreneurial founding team. Ben Askew-Renaut and Javier Bravo have created a company that we believe, will conquer not only the Spanish market but also the international scene. We are very pleased to support them on this journey. ”
Active Venture Partners specializes in internet technology companies and manages around €75m between the two venture capital funds, Molins Capital Investment SCR and Amerigo Innvierte Spain Ventures FCR.
